چکیده
The transmutation of transuranic (TRU) elements produced by pressurized water reactors (PWRs) can effectively reduce their radioactive hazards. molten chloride salt fast reactor (MCSFR) is a type liquid-fueled (MSR) using fuel in the form salts. MCSFR utilizing neutron spectrum and high actinide fraction considered to be potential for TRU transmutation. An online refueling reprocessing scenario unique feature MSRs. On account this characteristic, new management code named ThorNEMFM with nodal expansion method (NEM) was developed validated breeder (MSBR) (MSFR) benchmarks. Then, breeding performances were simulated analyzed code. adopts as initial fissile loads feeding materials. results show that ratio reach 50%, 1.359. Moreover, has low radiotoxicity due lower buildup fission products (FPs).

متن کاملOn the Use of a Molten Salt Fast Reactor to Apply an Idealized Transmutation Scenario for the Nuclear Phase Out
In the view of transmutation of transuranium (TRU) elements, molten salt fast reactors (MSFRs) offer certain advantages compared to solid fuelled reactor types like sodium cooled fast reactors (SFRs). In the first part these advantages are discussed in comparison with the SFR technology, and the research challenges are analyzed. In the second part cycle studies for the MSFR are given for differ...
متن کاملThe Advanced High-Temperature Reactor: High-Temperature Fuel, Molten Salt Coolant, and Liquid-Metal-Reactor Plant
The Advanced High-Temperature Reactor is a new reactor concept that combines four existing technologies in a new way: (1) coated-particle graphite-matrix nuclear fuels (traditionally used for helium-cooled reactors), (2) Brayton power cycles, (3) passive safety systems and plant designs from liquid-metal-cooled fast reactors, and (4) low-pressure molten-salt coolants with boiling points far abo...
متن کاملThe Molten Salt Reactor Adventure
A personal history of the development of molten-salt reactors in the United States is presented. The initial goal was an aircraft propulsion reactor, and a molten fluoride-fueled Aircraft Reactor Experiment was operated at Oak Ridge National Laboratory in 1954. In 1956, the objective shifted to civilian nuclear power, and reactor concepts were developed using a circulating UF4-ThF4 fuel, graphi...
